⚠️ Vehicle Crime – Please Secure Your Vehicles ⚠️
Good Afternoon,
We are asking residents to remain vigilant following a recent increase in reports of thefts from motor vehicles in the local area. Please take a few simple precautions to help reduce the chances of becoming a victim: 🔒 Always lock your vehicle, even if you are only leaving it unattended for a short time. Check that doors, windows and the boot are fully secured. 👀 Leave nothing on display. Remove bags, clothing, tools, wallets, electronics, loose change and other valuables. Even items which are not valuable may attract unwanted attention. 📱 Remove valuables from the vehicle overnight, including phones, laptops and other electronic devices. 🛠️ Tradespeople should remove tools where possible. If tools must remain in a vehicle, consider additional security measures such as secure storage and marking your property. 🔑 Keep vehicle keys secure inside your home and away from doors and windows. 💡 Park somewhere secure and well-lit whenever possible. If you have a garage, driveway lighting, CCTV or other security measures, make use of them. 📹 Check doorbell cameras or CCTV and report any suspicious activity you notice. Please encourage friends, relatives and neighbours to take the same precautions. If you see a crime taking place or there is an immediate risk, call 999. Non-emergency crime and suspicious activity can be reported to police through the usual non-emergency reporting channels. Thank you for helping us keep our community and property safe.
